Downing street

Downing street is a very famous street because there's the house of the Prime minster of the United Kingdon, in the number 10th.
This street has been the residence of all Prime minster in the history of England and some departments and chancellories of the United Kingdom.

The street was built in the 1680's by sir George Downing on the site of a mansion called Hampden house. In the actuality, lots of important persons of the United kingdom government, live in this street, for example:

-9th downing street was named in 2001 and is the entrance of the Privy council office. It's part of number 10.
-10th is the house of the first lord of the tresuary, wich means the same than the Prime minster of United kingdom.
-11th has been the house of the second lord of tresuary, so is the house of the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
-12th formerly the Chief Whip's Office, currently houses the Prime Minister's Press Office, Strategic Communications Unit and Information and Research Unit.

When Tony Blair was the Prime minster, didn't live in the 10th because this was too small for his 3 children, so he changed the house with Gordon Brown, the 2nd Lord of tresuary who lived in the 11th, because the 11th is bigger and Gordon Brown wasn't married.
